A Short, Outgoing Interview with Struan, our Outreach Officer
We never like to say “goodbye” to valued colleagues, but sadly this week our time working with Struan Gow is coming to an end. We sat down with him to ask three questions about his experiences over the past year.

What have you enjoyed about your year with Altitude?
It’s been an incredibly busy year, but there’s been some stand out moments. During the pandemic, I had tutored online whilst at university, and joining Altitude meant for one I was seeing my students in person, which makes an incredible difference to the type of connections I was building with them. Those personal journeys I think were something I really enjoyed.
What’s the one career lesson from the year that you’ll take with you?
Undoubtedly one that not everyone would agree to but say yes to every opportunity. I’ve been lucky enough to be put forward for useful career opportunities, and put myself out there too, which has resulted in some invaluable experience! Since knowing this was a set 1 year graduate scheme, being outgoing and ambitious has been really important I think.
What are you going to do next?
I am going to work for a company called Sage, which I think might be the largest software company headquartered in the North East. They are a software company that help businesses allocate resources, and have become very successful because of it. They built the famous Glasshouse (or Glass Slug if you prefer) in Gateshead! Specifically, I’m going to be in their Data Analyst graduate program.
Massive thanks to Struan, from everyone at Altitude Foundation, for all you have done for our participants this year! We cannot wait to see what you go on to achieve next.
